In August 2026 we renovated the community playground of a housing development in Dénia (Alicante). We installed 100 m² of AMORE 22 mm artificial grass over the existing concrete slab, with no demolition, and went over the rest of the area: we repaired the wall that tree roots had pushed out, fixed and painted the plinths, restored the play equipment, which was more than 25 years old, and anchored the slide to the ground. The grass and repairs were finished in 3 days. The wooden playhouse was assembled afterwards, once the manufacturer delivered it. The community wanted a surface softer than concrete, easy to maintain and green all year without watering or mowing.
What the area looked like. It was a play area with more than 30 years of use and in poor condition. The perimeter wall had been pushed out by tree roots, the plinths were damaged, the play equipment had flaking paint and loose parts, and the slide was not properly fixed to the ground. The concrete floor was hard and uncomfortable for children.
What we did.
- Repair of the wall pushed out by the roots.
- Repair and painting of the plinths.
- Restoration, tightening of anchors and painting of the existing play equipment.
- Fixing the slide to the ground.
- Installation of 100 m² of AMORE 22 mm artificial grass over the concrete base.
- Assembly of a wooden playhouse for the little ones.
Why artificial grass in a playground. It is one of the best options for play areas in residential communities, schools and gardens:
- A softer, more pleasant surface than concrete or tiles, for sitting or lying down to play.
- No mud, no puddles and no soil: children stay clean and the area can be used soon after rain.
- Green all year with no watering, mowing, fertiliser or pesticides, which matters on the Costa Blanca with its water restrictions.
- Minimal maintenance: just brush and rinse with water.
- A tidy look that adds value to the common areas of the development.
- It can be combined with a shock-absorbing layer under the grass in the fall zones of swings and slides.
Project data.

Can artificial grass be laid over concrete in a playground? Yes. In this project we installed it directly on the existing concrete slab, with no demolition work, which shortens the schedule and lowers the cost.
