Artificial Grass Maintenance: Complete 2026 Guide
Keys to Always-Green Grass
Although artificial grass is known for its low maintenance, spending a few minutes a month makes the difference between a nice garden and a spectacular one.
1. Brushing: The secret to standing fibres
With use and foot traffic, fibres tend to flatten slightly. We recommend brushing the grass against the grain once a month using a stiff-bristle broom (never metal) or an electric power brush. This not only lifts the fibres but also redistributes the silica sand.
2. Occasional Cleaning and Watering
Airborne dust settles on the surface. A quick rinse with a hose (without excessive pressure) cleans the fibres and, in summer, cools the surface considerably. For a deep clean, you can use water with a little mild soap.
3. Specific Stains
- Drinks/Food: Water and soap.
- Chewing gum: Apply ice to harden it, then remove.
- Pets: Remove solid waste and clean the area with water and, if you like, an enzyme cleaner to eliminate odours.
